Credit Cards

Some people are a bit negative about credit cards sometimes, but the truth is we all need them and they have the opportunity to be either our best friend or our worst enemy.

We get to choose, the power is with us to decide which one of these things the plastic card will be.

So how does a card become good or bad? friend or foe? it all comes back to us and how we will our lives.

People who find the credit card a foe, is often because they have got them selves into a situation where they have racked up credit card debt… this can be easy to do! but the problem is not with the credit card itself its with the other activities the person did to accumulate that debt. Essentially its about living beyond your means if you rack up credit card debt, its a sour pill to swollow and painful words to hear , but its the truth.  It’s just like getting over weight , you’re eating too much, if you’re credit card debt had built up you’re spending too much. As individuals we have to try and keep control of this ourselves. The big question is why do we spend too much? why do we eat too much?

The underlying issue might be that you’re not very happy with your life – again another tough pill to swallow! but its true, you might be in a job or relationship that is essentially making you miserable, but rather than fixing that, you’re trying to compensate in other ways to give you that gap of happiness you should be feeling in other areas of your life. I don’t mean to get all preachy, but sometimes the hardest things in life to accept are the best.

OK then, how can a credit card be a friend? if you can deligently pay off your credit card before any interest is added you can reap the benefits – or rewards! I know people who have gone on fantastic holidays all thanks to the credit card. The credit card can also be your friend if you do already have debt, by taking advantage of a balance transfer offer… these can be the lowest interest rates available. Credit Cards can also be great for travelling, if you’re overseas and get in a pickle where you don’t have the local currency.. they know VISA and Mastercard as good as their own currency :)

So in conclusion, make the most of your life, but by doing so look at the area that cause pain before they get too big and many things, including credit cards will be your friend.
